Free lighted fenced off-leash dog park in Margate with separate small-dog and large-dog enclosures, walking loops, and a dog-wash station.
About
Margate Dog Park is a free lighted fenced off-leash dog park located at the northeast corner of Royal Palm Boulevard and Rock Island Road in Margate. Operated by the City of Margate Parks and Recreation Department, the facility features a secure double-gated entry and two separate chain-link enclosures for large dogs weighing 25 pounds and over and small dogs weighing under 25 pounds across manicured natural grass lawns.
Both the small-dog and large-dog enclosures feature their own paved interior walking paths for handlers, two covered shade pavilions with benches, canine drinking water fountains, pet-waste bag dispensers, and overhead lighting for evening exercise. At the main entrance vestibule, a dedicated concrete dog-wash station with a built-in leash holder makes rinsing off muddy paws effortless before heading back to the free paved parking lot.
Admission and parking at Margate Dog Park are completely free. The park is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and closes all day every Wednesday for weekly turf maintenance and cleaning. City of Margate rules require all visiting dogs to be at least four months old, wear a collar with current rabies vaccination tags, and remain under close adult supervision, with a limit of two dogs per adult handler. Having overhead lighting until 10:00 PM alongside paved interior walking loops and a concrete dog-wash station makes evening dog-park visits especially convenient.
