About
Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is a vital 501(c)(3) non-profit and one of South Florida's largest no-kill shelters, dedicated to rescuing, sheltering, and rehoming abandoned and abused dogs and cats. Since our founding in 1996, we've cared for over 6,800 pets, including community cats we trap, neuter, and release.
Our shelter accommodates up to 200 cats and 30 dogs, offering spacious, social environments and medical care, thanks to our on-site clinic and 18 full-time staff. With a yearly intake of 330 pets and an adoption rate of 270, plus 20 special medical adoptions, we ensure each animal receives the love and care they deserve.
Supported by six board members with diverse expertise and over 60 active volunteers, APR champions animal welfare while engaging the community through volunteer and fundraising initiatives.
