Today we received the heartbreaking confirmation that Mastro has Stage 4 B-cell lymphoma, an aggressive type of cancer in dogs. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system. In Stage 4, it means the cancer has spread beyond the lymph nodes and is affecting other organs in the body. B-cell lymphoma is one of the more common forms seen in dogs, and while it can respond well to chemotherapy, it is still considered a very serious and life-threatening diagnosis. Our veterinary team explained that without treatment, dogs with this type and stage of lymphoma typically survive around 30–60 days. With chemotherapy, many dogs are able to go into remission and continue enjoying a good quality of life for an average of about 1.5 to 2 years, though every dog responds differently.
Unfortunately, the cost of giving Mastro a fighting chance through chemotherapy and ongoing treatment is overwhelming for our family and not something we can easily manage on our own right now. The funds raised will help cover chemotherapy, vet visits, medications, and a special diet to give Mastro the best chance at remission and a longer, happier life. We are asking for help from anyone who would like to support Mastro's treatment journey. Whether it's a donation, a share, or simply a prayer, every bit of support truly means the world to us and to our sweet boy during this incredibly difficult time.
Right now we are processing the shock, fear, and heartbreak of hearing this news. Mastro is only 3 years old, full of love, energy, and life, which makes this even harder to understand. We are asking everyone to please keep Mastro in your prayers. Pray for strength, healing, comfort, and for us to make the best decisions possible for him during this fight. We are going to cherish every single moment with our boy. Thank you all for loving him as much as we do.
