About
Brian Piccolo Sports Park & Velodrome is a 175.2-acre on-leash dog-friendly Broward County regional park located along Sheridan Street in Cooper City. Named in honor of the legendary South Florida athlete and recognized as a site on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, this expansive park welcomes dogs on a six-foot non-retractable leash across its miles of paved biking, jogging, and walking paths and wide-open Bermuda grass lawns.
Throughout the park, dog walkers enjoy scenic lakeside loops, fitness stations, covered picnic shelters with tables and grills, park benches, drinking water fountains, pet-waste bag dispensers, public restrooms, and ample free parking lots. The property also houses Florida's only cycling velodrome track, lighted athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and shaded playgrounds.
Brian Piccolo Sports Park & Velodrome is open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM during spring and summer and from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM during fall and winter. Weekday admission is completely free, while weekends and county-observed holidays carry a regular gate entrance fee of $3 per vehicle for up to eight occupants. Dogs must stay on a non-retractable six-foot leash at all times, wear current rabies vaccination tags, and remain off athletic turf fields and the velodrome track. Wide lakeside pathways, open grassy fields, and refreshing breezes across the athletic complex make it an invigorating spot for long leashed walks and jogs.
