About
Christie Schafale Park & Dog Park is a beloved five-acre neighborhood park and fenced off-leash dog park located in eastern Cooper City. Operated by the City of Cooper City Parks and Recreation Department, the dog park features a secure double-gated entry vestibule and two separate chain-link enclosures for large dogs and small dogs over natural grass and shaded dirt surfaces.
Inside the off-leash runs, dogs enjoy permanent agility ramps and tunnels, canine drinking fountains, water hoses often used to fill cooling wading tubs on warm afternoons, shaded benches beneath mature oak trees, and pet-waste bag dispensers. Outside the fenced dog areas, the five-acre park provides free parking, public restrooms, a shaded children's playground, basketball courts, picnic shelters, and a paved perimeter walking trail where dogs are welcome on a six-foot non-retractable leash.
Admission and parking at Christie Schafale Park & Dog Park are completely free. The dog park operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a scheduled monthly maintenance closure on the second Wednesday of each month from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. All visiting dogs must wear current rabies vaccination tags, be at least four months old, and remain under close adult supervision at all times. Between the shaded oak canopy, agility tunnels, and cooling summer water tubs, dogs of every size stay active and comfortable throughout their visit.
