About
Craig Rupp K-9 Dog Park, formerly known as the Johnson Street Dog Park and dedicated in honor of retired Pembroke Pines Police K-9 Officer Craig Rupp, is a spacious fenced off-leash dog park in Pembroke Pines. Maintained by the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, the park offers secure double-gated entry and separate chain-link fenced compounds for small dogs and large dogs over natural Bermuda grass and shaded dirt play surfaces.
Both enclosures are equipped with permanent canine agility obstacles, dog and human water fountains, covered shade gazebos, park benches, picnic tables, and pet-waste bag dispensers beneath mature canopy trees. Directly outside the dog-park gates, visitors have access to a free paved parking lot, public restrooms, and shaded sidewalks where leashed dogs can stroll on a six-foot non-retractable lead.
Admission and parking at Craig Rupp K-9 Dog Park are 100 percent free. The park operates Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to dusk and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a scheduled weekly maintenance closure every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. All dogs must wear current rabies vaccination and Broward County license tags, be at least four months old, and stay under the direct supervision of an adult handler. Shaded gazebos, permanent agility obstacles, and separate small-dog and large-dog grass compounds make this Pembroke Pines tribute park a favorite west-side gathering spot.
