Wags & Waves Dog Beach

Wags & Waves Dog Beach is the City of Pompano Beach's designated dog-friendly beach program located at the Southeast 2nd Street beach access entrance along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline. Created as a municipal beach pilot to give local dogs and owners dedicated coastal sand and surf access, this marked beachfront zone allows dogs on a six-foot non-retractable leash to walk on the sand and splash along the Atlantic shoreline.

The Southeast 2nd Street beach access connects directly to Pompano Beach's wide oceanfront promenade, which features freshwater beach showers, foot-wash stations, pet-waste bag dispensers, shaded picnic shelters, public restrooms, bike racks, and oceanfront benches. Municipal metered parking lots, street spaces, and the nearby Pier Parking Garage provide convenient vehicle access, alongside the city's free on-demand Circuit shuttle.

Wags & Waves Dog Beach operates on a seasonal municipal schedule typically featuring morning and late-afternoon sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, so visitors should call Pompano Beach Parks and Recreation at 954-786-4111 to verify active session hours and permit requirements before heading out. Each adult handler may bring up to two dogs, and owners must present proof of current rabies vaccination upon entry, keep dogs on a maximum six-foot leash, and bring no food onto the sand. Bringing a collapsible water bowl, beach towel, and valid rabies paperwork ensures a smooth coastal outing whenever the city's dog-beach sessions are open.
