West Lake Park
Coastal 174.3-acre on-leash dog-friendly Broward County park in Hollywood with paved waterfront walking paths, mangrove views, and picnic shelters.
About
West Lake Park is a scenic 174.3-acre on-leash dog-friendly Broward County recreational park located along Sheridan Street just west of the Intracoastal Waterway in Hollywood. Bordering the expansive coastal mangrove estuary, the developed recreational park on the south side of Sheridan Street welcomes dogs on a six-foot non-retractable leash across its paved walking, jogging, and biking paths and breezy lakeside Bermuda grass lawns.
Along the waterfront promenade overlooking West Lake, pet owners enjoy covered picnic shelters with tables and grills, shaded park benches, drinking water fountains, pet-waste bag dispensers, public restrooms, and ample paved parking. The recreational park also offers a full-service canoe and kayak marina, fishing docks, tennis, pickleball, basketball, and volleyball courts, and a shaded playground.
West Lake Park is open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM during spring and summer and from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM during fall and winter. Weekday admission is completely free, while weekends and county-observed holidays carry a regular gate entrance fee of $3 per vehicle for up to eight occupants. Dogs must remain on a non-retractable six-foot leash inside the developed recreation park at all times, wear current rabies tags, and are not permitted across the street inside the Anne Kolb Nature Center trails or exhibit hall. Salty Intracoastal breezes, lakeside paved pathways, and peaceful mangrove views make the south-side recreation park a refreshing coastal walk for leashed pups.
