Broward County, Florida has become a popular destination for dog owners and adopters alike. There are tons of dogs in shelters and rescue organizations just waiting for a loving home. Did you know 201 dogs were adopted in November 2022?

Here are the steps you need to follow to make it happen:

  • Research: Before you start the adoption process, research different breeds and sizes of dogs to find the right match for you and your family. The Broward County Humane Society has a variety of dogs available for adoption, so take the time to find the one that fits your lifestyle and personality.
  • Visit the Shelter: Once you have an idea of the type of dog you would like to adopt, visit the Broward County Humane Society. Take a tour of the facility, meet with staff and volunteers, and spend some time with the dogs you are interested in adopting. This will give you a chance to see how the dogs interact with you and others, and help you make a more informed decision.
  • Complete an Adoption Application: Once you have found the perfect dog, complete an adoption application. This will help the staff at the Broward County Humane Society determine if the dog you have selected is a good fit for you and your family.
  • Meet with a Shelter Representative: After you have submitted your adoption application, you will be asked to meet with a shelter representative. This person will ask you questions about your home, family, and lifestyle, and will help you determine if the dog you have selected is a good fit for you.
  • Finalize the Adoption: If everything checks out, the shelter representative will finalize the adoption and provide you with the necessary paperwork. You will also need to pay an adoption fee, which helps cover the cost of caring for the dogs at the Broward County Humane Society.
  • Take Your New Pet Home: Once the adoption is finalized, it's time to take your new pet home! Be sure to have everything you need to care for your new dog, such as food, water, toys, a bed, and a collar and leash.
