Franklin Park
Free on-leash dog-friendly Broward County neighborhood park in Fort Lauderdale featuring a paved walking path, shaded lawns, and picnic shelters.
About
Franklin Park is an official on-leash dog-friendly Broward County neighborhood park located in the Broward Municipal Services District of central Fort Lauderdale. Although the park does not have a fenced off-leash dog enclosure, it provides a welcoming neighborhood green space where dogs on a six-foot non-retractable leash can exercise along a paved perimeter walking and jogging path and open Bermuda grass lawns.
The park grounds include covered picnic shelters with tables, shaded park benches, drinking water fountains, pet-waste bag dispensers, outdoor fitness equipment, lighted basketball courts, a shaded children's playground, and a community recreation center with public restrooms. Mature shade trees border the walking loop, and free paved parking is conveniently situated alongside the park entrance.
Admission and parking at Franklin Park are 100 percent free seven days a week with no weekend or holiday gate fees. The outdoor park grounds are open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In keeping with Broward County Parks and Recreation regulations, all visiting dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash no longer than six feet at all times, wear a collar with current rabies vaccination tags, stay out of the indoor recreation building and playground area, and have all waste picked up immediately. Level paved pathways, shady grass lawns, and free seven-day admission make this central Fort Lauderdale park a dependable neighborhood dog-walking stop.
