Lafayette Hart Park

Lafayette Hart Park is a welcoming on-leash dog-friendly Broward County neighborhood park located within the Washington Park community of Fort Lauderdale's Broward Municipal Services District. Listed on Broward County's official dog-friendly parks directory, this community park invites handlers and dogs on a six-foot non-retractable leash to enjoy daily walks along its paved walking and jogging path and open grassy lawns.

Throughout the park, visitors have access to covered picnic shelters, outdoor tables, charcoal grills, shaded benches, drinking water fountains, pet-waste bag dispensers, and public restrooms at the community center. The park also features outdoor basketball courts, a shaded playground, a seasonal splash pad for children, and free paved parking right next to the walkway.

Lafayette Hart Park is open seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and both park admission and parking are 100 percent free every day of the year. Under Broward County Parks regulations, every dog must remain on a non-retractable leash no longer than six feet, wear a collar displaying current rabies vaccination tags, and stay under the physical control of an adult handler. Dogs are not permitted inside the community center building, splash pad, or playground, and owners must clean up pet waste immediately. Shaded benches, open Bermuda grass lawns, and a smooth paved walking loop give neighborhood handlers a welcoming place for daily on-leash exercise.
