Riverwalk Linear Park

Riverwalk Linear Park is Downtown Fort Lauderdale's signature 18-acre dog-friendly waterfront park, stretching along both the north and south banks of the scenic New River. Featured on the City of Fort Lauderdale's official Dog-Friendly Places roster, this lush tropical linear park welcomes dogs on a six-foot non-retractable leash across its brick-paved promenades, wooden riverfront boardwalks, and manicured Bermuda grass lawns winding through the heart of the arts and entertainment district.

Designed with canine companions in mind, the promenade is lined with dedicated dog drinking fountains, pet-waste bag stations, shaded gazebos, waterfront benches, picnic tables, and full pedestrian lighting for evening strolls. Public restrooms, Water Taxi stops, and multiple downtown parking garages and metered lots sit right along the route, and the park frequently hosts pet-friendly community walks and outdoor festivals beneath towering royal palms and banyan trees.

Riverwalk Linear Park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with 100 percent free admission year-round. In accordance with Fort Lauderdale municipal park rules, dogs must remain on a non-retractable leash no longer than six feet at all times, with a maximum of three dogs per adult handler. All visiting dogs must wear current rabies vaccination tags, and owners are required to clean up after their pets immediately while keeping dogs out of decorative fountains and river waters. Morning joggers and evening dog walkers alike appreciate the breezy riverfront views, well-lit brick pathways, and easy access to downtown water stations.
